Endothelial Cell Specialization, Functional Heterogeneity and Niche Function

Chairs: Ralf H. Adams
Vice Chair:  Karen K. Hirschi

Endothelial cells form adaptable transport networks but have also emerged as critical regulators of organ growth, regeneration and stem cell niche function. Even within the same organ, endothelial cells can have very different developmental origins, possess heterogeneous molecular properties and acquire functional specialization. Understanding these aspects of endothelial cell diversity is crucial for future approaches in regenerative medicine.

This GRC will bring together international researchers from all career levels and a variety of disciplines. Sessions will cover the very latest research in a rapidly evolving field. Topics include the heterogeneity and specification of endothelial cell subpopulations, molecular control of phenotypes, organ-specific differentiation, novel sources of endothelial cells during development, transdifferentiation processes, vascular niches, and endothelial dysfunction in disease.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about unpublished results, establish new collaborations and interact with many leading scientists at this GRC with its unique focus on endothelial cell phenotypes. All attendees are encouraged to submit an abstract for poster presentation, and several "late-breaking topic" abstracts will be selected for oral presentation as part of the main program. Applicants will be accepted from a diverse mix of established investigators, junior PIs, postdocs and graduate students.

Application Information
Applications for this meeting must be submitted by June 17, 2018. Please apply early, as some meetings become oversubscribed (full) before this deadline. If the meeting is oversubscribed, it will be stated here. Note: Applications for oversubscribed meetings will only be considered by the conference chair if more seats become available due to cancellations.
