Primary Research:
Our lab studies vascular mechanics with a focus on elastic fiber defects in large arteries. We are interested in how genetic mutations in elastic fiber proteins affect arterial mechanical properties and lead to diseases such as arterial stiffening, hypertension, and thoracic aortic aneurysms. We are also interested in the interplay between hemodynamic forces and aortic development and maturation.
