Ziqing Liu, PhD

Assistant Professor
Department of Physiology
Medical College of Wisconsin

Primary Research:

The Liu lab aims to integrate OMICS data analysis with experimental output to better understand cardiovascular development and diseases, and to develop novel strategies for cardiovascular regeneration. The current focus of the lab is post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in the cardiovascular system by RNA-binding proteins (RBP). Post-transcriptional regulation by ~1500 RBPs is critical for cardiovascular biology but highly under-studied. The Liu lab combines state-of-the-art OMICS approaches with CRISPR screen, mouse models, and human cell culture systems to elucidate molecular mechanisms of vascular development and homeostasis and heart regeneration with a focus on post-transcriptional regulation.
